Cable Hat and Fetching Gloves

I knit my mom a roll brim hat and utterly failed to take a picture of it (something that I am mildly famous for and trying very hard to rectify) but I took that rest of the skein and knit myself a hat:

The pattern is Twisted Lattice Cabled Hat knit with Malabrigo "Like Butter" Yarn. And before anyone emails me to mention that, ahem, I need a shave...that is the Electronic Panther modeling the hat.

Then it got cold so I knit myself a pair of gloves as well. This is actually Fetching from Knitty but I threw on some fingers and a thumb because fingerless gloves really have no place here in Minnesota except for possibly in mid-summer. Every time I look at them I think "dude, FINGERS, that is so cool".

My one complaint so far has been the major pilling of the gloves and the wish that I hadn't been so lazy and had knit them on much smaller needles (I used size 7, I probably should have gone with a size 2 or 3). They are warm enough, but I think the cables would have popped more with a tighter knit.
