Today has been a bit hectic, we had friends over for cookie making this morning and between that and the normal "learning how to juggle two children" it has not been the easiest day ever.
A few minutes ago I had finally rocked the Twerp to sleep and the bumps and rumbles from upstairs had quieted to a dull roar (see previous post) and I sat here on the couch finishing off a small bowl of cookie dough left over from the play date. Life was good and calm at last. I licked some butter off of my hand.
It wasn't butter.
This is just not my day.

In Other News: You may have noticed a sharp upswing in the number of posts I am churning out Holy Crap! She wrote TWO IN ONE DAY I am considering signing up for NaBloPoMo and trying out how it feels. I think that it may either:
A) Be a terrific experience! Help me make friends and lose 10 pounds!
B) Be the stupidest thing I have ever considered doing! Somebody slap me! I have a new baby!
C) Kick start a habit of writing on a regular basis and help me shoot from the hip instead of obsessively writing and rewriting each post until I give up and hit the "submit" button.
Any which way I think the posts will be lighter on photos for a while because sorting through the pictures and cropping, messing with color and exposure, and all that often takes twice as long as banging out the text. I will try to throw you a bone every once in a while because, lets face it, you aren't here for the articles.

The Creep is finally at the age where the afternoon naps are fading into memory and the afternoon "quiet time" is in vogue. Most afternoons I hear strange bumps and rumbles coming from his room as he rearranges his room to improve the Toddler Feng Shui; this mysteriously tends to involve moving his mattress across the room and stacking his books horizontally on the shelf.
Yesterday the EP went up to collect him and noticed that the room smelled awfully...nice. Zeroing in a a sample sized bottle of sunscreen that had been forgotten in the back of one of the Creep's dresser drawers, the EP asked him what he had been doing with it.
"Its for cleaning," said my loverly smelling son.
Actually, he had been using it as pomade...but perhaps he had been cleaning his hair.

I am pleased to report that the Twerp is once again perfectly symmetrical.
A few weeks ago I discovered, to my horror, that the Twerp had developed a very large bald spot on the side of her head.* Since she doesn't have enough hair yet to do a comb over, I fretted. My fretting tends to come out sideways - usually in the form of me holding her up to friends, family and people in the grocery store saying "look at this! My daughter is lopsided! The horror!"
She has been working the other side of her head since then and has managed to lose all of the hair on that side as well. The symmetry pleases me and my fretting has subsided.
I have no pictures of this phenomenon to show you. Or rather, there are pictures, but they are all the way across the room and no matter how hard I stare at them they aren't moving. Neither am I, so it seems like we have a stand-off and you, my gentle readers, are caught in the crossfire.
*don't panic this is one of those natural occurrences with leetle babies with hair, when they rub their heads on the bed/swing/bouncy-chair it pulls the very fine hair right out of their head.

Me, watching the Twerp bounce in her bouncy thing:
"Wow, what a great baby"
EP:
"she really is. She smiles all the time."
Me:
"Yeah."
EP:
"Yeah."
Me, gesturing towards the bouncy thing where the baby is currently going crazy with bounciness:
"That is the best $20 bucks we ever spent"
EP, dead serious, looking at the Twerp:
"What do you mean? She cost way more than $20."

Curious George is more vital to the peace and harmony of this household than gainful employment or chocolate (combined), so I found this post over at Cake Wrecks very funny. It made the EP shoot snot out of his nose so you know it is good.
"Has anyone seen my Curious George Cake?"
